Alison Flint, a former senior marketer with companies including Scottish Courage and Coca Cola Germany, has been taken on by the Liverpool Culture Company in the role of interim general marketing manager.
Flint takes the reins from Alison Duckworth, who has left to go on maternity leave.
Kris Donaldson, the former commercial and marketing director of the LCC, was promoted to director of the agency in January.
Flint has a long history in the marketing profession and most recently held the role of commercial director at Sheffield-based agency DKPM, a position she took up in 2005.
The move will see Flint take on the marketing duties for the bulk of the remainder of the European Capital of Culture celebrations.
A spokesperson from the LCC confirmed to How-Do that Flint had now taken up the position.
