The organisers of the Glastonbury Festival turned to Manchester print and design company, Juicy marketing, to produce 50,000 cards for revellers to records their ‘Glastonbury experience’.
Glastonbury Festival Festival goers were provided with crayons and the cards to capture the Glastonbury moment (move over Kodak) and nominate their favourite pitch on the 900 acre festival site. The cards are now being put together to ultimately create a 25 sq ft mosaic which will subsequently be displayed a s part of a road show visiting schools across the UK.
Juicy markets itself as an environmentally conscious printer and the company was contacted directly by Glastonbury and own the work without a pitch.
The paper being used is from recycled post consumer waste and the printing process uses no chemicals or solvents and is entirely water based. The ink is vegetable based.
Daniel Raven-Ellison of the Give Geography Its Place campaign, commented: “People treasure their Glastonbury memories, so we thought that capturing their favourite moment is fun for festival goers and will be interesting to Glastonbury devotees of past festivals.”
Daniel continues: “We had to be sure that whoever we work with takes how their business affects the environment seriously and does something about it. We felt Juicy demonstrated their commitment to being green and has made it a central part of how their business operates.”
Jeremy Waite, managing director of Juicy, comments: “The Glastonbury Festival makes a very strong point of using its influence to help get the environmental message out to young and older people alike. To be associated with such an icon of British culture is just tremendous.”
Juicy was founded 12 years ago. It has studios in Manchester and London.
