A coterie of local and national creative support organisations have joined forces to host the inaugural Liverpool Design Symposium at St George’s Hall this October.
Drawing crowds to Liverpool Described by the organisers - more on them shortly - as a “sparkling new addition to Liverpool’s creative scene” the event aims to give the local design fraternity inspiration, advice and valuable insights into the working of the industry. The symposium is the brainchild of the Design Initiative, Merseyside ACME, D&AD and the DBA, in tandem with some of the city’s leading design agencies. So far they’ve lined up Universal Everything’s Matt Pyke as headline speaker and ‘king of type’ and all round font-master Bruno Maag in his first ever Liverpool appearance. D&AD will also be hosting an exhibition of the year’s best creative work, while the DBA will be advising on how to beat the credit crunch. A student lecture is also lined up, as is a show of the best from this year’s Roses Design Awards. The event takes place at St George’s on 23 October.
