Daily Post columnist and City Talk 105.9fm presenter Larry Neild has joined public affairs consultancy October Communications as director of media.
He will initially be working three days a week for the Liverpool agency.
Until recently Neild was the Daily Post’s city editor. He continues to write a weekly column on a Monday in addition to his other new role as presenter of his weekly political programme, The Commons Touch, which broadcasts on Sundays on CityTalk 105.9fm which launched in Liverpool a fortnight ago.
Widnes lad Neild, joined the Echo as a trainee news reporter in 1970.
He took a career break in China in the 1990s when he worked as a language editor in Beijing. One of the pseudonyms he used was Peter King so that his byline read P King….he claimed the authorities never cottoned on.
He returned to Liverpool jobless after two years in China and said the Old Hall Street team quickly grabbed him again as a deputy business editor. In all he spent over 30 years with the Trinity-owned titles.
October was founded by Jon Egan in 1999. The agency employs 11 staff and its clients include the Red Cross, Biossence, Neptune Developments and Travelwise. www.octobercomms.co.uk
