It emerged yesterday that Paul Tyrell, the PR supremo for Manchester City FC, has left the club by mutual consent.
Who'll run things now?
Tyrell had a reputation for being straight–talking and confrontational in style, and it has been reported that this led him to clash with City’s new executive chairman Garry Cook.
As a result he has seemingly been absent from the position for three months – initially on sick leave and then gardening leave.
Tyrell has been at the club for the past five years (and four managers) after working for Granada and The Merseyside Fire Service in publicity roles.
He was head of a PR team of six members of staff.
According to reports Tyrell received around £100,000 as part of a severance deal and is now looking to set up his own PR firm with a sport and broadcasting specialism.
