Manchester United has signed up the Children’s Society as one of its two main national charity partners in a three-year agreement.
United, which also raises funds and profile for The Cystic Fibrosis Trust, will now work with the charity as it aims to meet its objective of providing safe childhood’s for children across the UK. To mark the launch of the partnership, the premiership team this week invited 24 children from across the North West to meet stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Carlos Tevez and Wayne Rooney at its Carrington training ground. The club has also kick started the relationship by asking supporters to submit their favourite childhood memory to The Children's Society's Hundreds and Thousands campaign. This aims to collate people's best childhood experiences so that children today can benefit from them. Speaking about the agreement David Gill, chief executive of Manchester United explained: "Our new partnerships will enable us to work with our chosen charities to raise a significant amount of money throughout the three-year period and support a number of important projects. We are extremely proud of these partnerships and the young people who will be supported." On as local basis the club also works to raise funds for Francis House Children's Hospice, The New Children's Hospital Appeal, Rainbow House and Christies Hospital. www.childrenssociety.org Something to add?
