You’d think that Manchester United’s millionaire players were cosseted enough without getting a 102-inch plasma screen telly in their briefing room, wouldn’t you? Well, you’d be wrong…
McKenna The monster screen - Panasonic’s biggest, weighing in at some 220kg – is to be hung on a (reinforced?) wall at the ‘Theatre of Dreams’ so Fergie’s men can see playbacks of their silky skills in crystal clear, and very, very big, digital clarity. What’s more, it would appear as if the club won’t be out of pocket for the luxury item as MDM.TV, the European trans-stadia TV network, has provided the screen for them. MDM works with United and a host of other big name UK clubs (including Everton, Arsenal, Newcastle, Celtic and Aston Villa), channelling output to their match-day audiences on behalf of advertisers and brand owners. Firms such as BASF, Phones4u and Logitech have so far aired campaigns through the network. Gerry McKenna, MDM.TV’s MD, said of the new arrival at Old Trafford: “This advanced step for the Premier League Football Club marks a revolutionary development in the way management communicate with their players. “The screen is an amazing visual tool; ensuring video play back is used to its best potential.” We imagine it’s probably pretty good for Playstation games too… www.manutd.com Something to add?
