Miserable Idol 2009 launches - calling all grumpy buggers | Print |  Email to a friend

Following on from the barrowload of awards garnered by Mark Studio's (pictured) advertising for The Manchester Comedy Festival last year, organisers the Comedy Store are taking the campaign concept to the the next level for 2009.

Following on from the truckload of awards garnered by Mark Studio's (pictured) advertising for The Manchester Comedy Festival last year, organisers the Comedy Store are taking the campaign concept to the the next level for 2009.
The glum tone of 2008's work struck such a chord - winning recognition at D&AD, The Roses and The Art Director's Club - that it has now evolved into a monster of miserable proportions... namely Miserable Idol 2009.

This sees the festival searching for "the most depressed looking individuals - be they human, dog, duck or otherwise" with the promise of making the grumpiest slightly less grumpy by using their mugs in this year's advertising campaign.

As the organisers explain: "This is an opportunity to be immortalised in glum glory and a chance to star as Mr or Mrs Miserable 2009."

Susan Boyle eat you heart out.

If you have a frown that refuses to be turned upside down you can either upload your mugshots at the festival website www.manchestercomedysfestival.co.uk or by email to mugshot@manchestercomedyfestival.co.uk
