MTV reveals logo for Liverpool event and ups marketing ante |

Music television network MTV has unveiled the logo for its European Music Awards 2008, which takes place in Liverpool on 6 November.
The show is a major part of the city’s Capital of Culture celebrations and, with a huge global audience projected to be over 30m viewers across 19 channels, will focus yet more attention on Liverpool in its landmark year. In a move that effectively marks the start of the marketing drive for this year’s event, the MTV in-house team has revealed a logo for Liverpool 08 that puts a fresh twist on its established marque. The Viacom-owned network has also increased its UK marketing spend ahead of the November party and is believed to be in talks with a number of national and international firms with regard to sponsor and partnership deals. Clothing brand edc, a sub-brand of Esprit, has already signed up for the event, after sponsoring last year’s show in Munich.
