Salford council big winners at the 2008 Good Communication Awards |

 The 2008 Good Communication Awards, which aim to recognise excellence in public sector communications, saw Salford council emerge as the region’s big winner at this year’s awards ceremony in London this week.
Stoke council was the only other winner from the North West.
Stockport’s comms team may even have breathed a sigh of relief to attend the first ever ceremony where they didn’t walk off with all the honours…
The categories – and winners and commendations were:

Local authority PR team of the year Commended: Stockport MBC
Council publication of the year Winner: Stoke-on-Trent - Our City Commended: Wigan council - Borough Life Council publication - design Commended: Salford council - 'On' Stockport - The Reporter
Council publication - journalism Commended: St Helen's Council - St. Helen's First
 Salford - print team Print innovation award Winner: Salford - Trick or Treat Posters

Local authority of the year Commended: Salford Stockport MBC
Strategic communications campaign Commended: Lancashire Partnership for Road Safety - Missing Matthew
