Wigan manager Steve Bruce will be trying to ensure that his team has ample support for next Saturday’s FA Cup clash with Chelsea, by speaking to 10,000 of the club’s season ticket holders over their mobiles and landlines this week.
Bruce: it's good to talk Luckily for the ex-Birmingham manager and Man United man his voicebox will be safeguarded somewhat by the fact that he’s using voice-broadcasting technology to achieve the feat.Bruce will be talking to fans through a system supplied by Relay Station, which also works with Blackburn Rovers, Manchester City, Middlesbrough, Aston Villa, Newcastle, Coventry and Stoke City. This enables an MP3 message to be sent to subscribers' numbers, meaning Bruce can save his voice for screaming at his underperforming players come Saturday. He has already used the technology, with reported success, to boost ‘half-season’ ticket sales in December. Speaking about the need to employ the tele-marketing technique, Antony Clark, Wigan’s sales director, said: "(the) FA Cup tie with depleted Chelsea promises to be one of the highlights of our season and the team needs as many fans as possible at the JJB Stadium to spur them on and get a result." Whether Bruce will be phoning the same fans to apologise should his team get thumped remains to be seen… http://www.wiganlatics.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Welcome Something to add?
