Ten year old online research agency Virtual Surveys considers London opening | Print |  Email to a friend
Friday, 08 February 2008
The online research company Virtual Surveys is celebrating its tenth birthday and said it is considering opening an office in London.

The Manchester-based company, which was formed by Pete Comley in 1998 was initially itself virtually-based with staff working from their homes. The company claims it was one of the UK’s pioneers in online research at a time when the other major research agencies were paying scant regard to the potential of the web.

Comley had been a director of research company SGA based in the South East and had been conducting online research since 1995 before deciding to branch out on his own.

He recruited Quentin Ashby who was based in Manchester and who was subsequently appointed managing director. A couple of years later the company decided it finally needed a physical base and chose an office in Hampshire for its admin  and Manchester as its operational HQ

The privately-owned company is forecasting sales of over £3.5 million for 2008 and a workforce of 30 staff. A second operational office in London is under consideration the company told How-Do.

The company’s clients include Lloyds TSB, Vodafone, Halifax, Unilever and Sony.

Over a third of its business this year is expected to be derived from ‘Research 2.0’ encompassing online communities, video, mobile phones, blogging, and user generated content.
