The Merseyside Partnership has instigated a hunt for an agency to help market the region as a world-class conference destination.
Liverpool, according to the TMP, is emerging as a leader in the conferencing market and, fuelled by the city’s Capital of Culture status and new venues (in particular the £146m Arena and Convention Centre, pictured), the opportunities it has access to in this field are “set to explode.” As such it is looking to appoint an external partner to help exploit this situation and “develop a world class creative style that can be rolled out across all future conference marketing activity.” The agency selected by TMP will thus be charged with positioning the whole of the Liverpool City Region – including Southport, home to the new £40M Theatre and Convention Centre – as a unique and attractive conference option, one that is accessible, has the right infrastructure in place and offers something special in the way of a tourist proposition. In doing so it will work to deliver the business objectives of the TMP’s in-house Convention Bureau. Those wishing to apply for the year long contract will have to get their creative caps in place, as TMP is looking for sample executions of national trade advertising, as well as a mock cover for its Conference Portfolio for the 09/10 season. A budget for the task has not been made public, although it is known that the body is seeking to have a partner in place by the end of April for an early May start. Something to add?
