Tom Hicks closer to signing Freud as Liverpool FC feud wages on | Print |  Email to a friend

Tom Hicks, the co-owner of Liverpool Football Club, is reported to be close to hiring London’s Freud Communications to improve his tarnished image with the club’s fan base, and the wider media in general.

Tom Hicks, the co-owner of Liverpool Football Club, is reported to be close to hiring London’s Freud Communications to improve his tarnished image with the club’s fan base, and the wider media in general.
Hicks: still walking alone?
According to reports in the tabloids, Hicks has been in talks with Freud for the last few weeks, as he looks to ameliorate the damaging effects of his ongoing spat with fellow joint owner George Gillett.

He is under pressure from fans, his business colleagues and potential club buyers Dubai International Capital (DIC) after a spate of ill-advised moves (including an apparent plan to replace current manager Rafa Benitez with Jurgen Klinsmann) has seen his stock plummet and rendered his relationship with Gillett ‘unworkable’.

Now the London-based trade press are reporting that a deal between Hicks and Freud is ‘close to resolution’, although neither party was available to confirm this on the record.

Hicks already uses FD for financial PR, while LFC chief executive Rick Parry (also at odds with Hicks) is believed to be receiving advice from Vero Communications founder Mike Lee.

The turmoil at the club is said to be having adverse effects on the team itself, with Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard recently being forced to answer questions on the boardroom spats in a post match interview on Sky.

Isn't it FD who were hiring Freud, after making such a pig's ear of the PR campaign for Hicks?

Out of touch isn't the word I'm afraid, do companies like FD not try to do any research into all sides of those touched by such events?
