As a feel good brand story the union of Fairtrade cola Ubuntu and The Titchy Coffee Co is definitely a case of ‘the real thing.’
Ubuntu: refreshing
Ubuntu, which as scholars of Africa will know is the philosophy of ‘humanity to others’, is the UK’s only Fairtrade cola brand and is produced using ethically sourced sugar from Malawi and Zambia.
The Titchy Coffee Co, on the other hand, is a 100 per cent independently owned retailer based in Manchester’s Triangle Shopping Centre… and the first shop in the North West to get a taste of Ubuntu.
Titchy’s founder John Barlow said that it was “a fantastic coup” for his firm to stock the brand, noting, “it symbolises everything we stand for as a company, great food and drink with a real conscience."
Michelle Atack, marketing manager at the Triangle, was quick to seize on the opportunity to promote the centre through the story, and said: “Titchy is symbolic of the independent stores that are making us a popular shopping destination for people around the UK.”
