Urbis is launching the Best of Manchester 08 in an effort to find “the best creative thinking by the best creatives working in Manchester today.”
The competition, which will form the basis of an exhibition that hits the museum in August, claims to have “no age limit, no hype and no rules” and will asses the best design and creativity the city can offer across the categories of music, art and fashion. On offer is an as yet undisclosed cash prize, help with long term professional development and the chance to feature in the exhibition. The judging panel is being led by legendary Manchester designer, and creative about town Peter Saville – the man behind the ‘most iconic’ album cover of all time. Urbis is currently calling for entries, with more details to be released on its website soon. A statement on the site at present explains that the categories have been kept deliberately broad and that the judges will be “looking for entries that blur the boundaries, mix disciplines and demonstrate real creative innovation.” www.urbis.org.uk Something to add?
