The recently re-branded Vision Media Group, formerly ScreenFX, has announced that it has signed a five-year contract with Merlin Entertainments Group, the firm that runs Alton Towers, Madame Tussauds and a host of other visitor attractions.
VMG strapped in for five years The new deal will see VMG obtain exclusive outdoor and digital TV media rights for its existing screens at Merlin’s various theme parks, providing a stream of content on a revenue share basis.VMG is said to be considering making the most of the opportunity by bringing in a national sales contractor and considering outsourcing the regional sales task for the network. So far the screens have attracted advertisers of the order of Coca Cola, EA Games, Universal Pictures and United Biscuits, among others. VMG’s Mike Cottman, who recently signed a lucrative deal for the firm with Clear Channel UK, said: "We are delighted to have signed this contract with Merlin and it is testimony to the renewed strength of our business that this has been made possible. “The theme park industry represents a highly desirable audience to advertisers with dwell times quite unlike any other in the outdoor industry, averaging over five hours per visit, with queue-line TVs often delivering captive audiences for up to two hours at a time.” Merlin also runs Chessington World of Adventures and Thorpe Park.
