Debbie Williams, previously the children’s book buyer at Waterstone’s HQ has left the retailer to join UCLan as a project officer for commercial projects in the Journalism Department.
Williams At UCLan she will be working with François Nel, director of the Journalism Leaders Programme, to develop programmes for editors in the UK and abroad, specifically relating to ‘digitalisation’.
Williams spent a number of years with Waterstone’s and was often interviewed on programmes including This Morning and Sky News discussing Harry Potter and other issues in children's books. She even became a children's character, Ellie in the Jacqueline Wilson series "Girls In Love".
She is hoping to bring her broader publishing experience to bear at UCLan and perhaps even extend the course’s range to include children's books and publishing.
