Blackpool Zoo has scored a hat-trick of award wins at the VisitBlackpool Tourism Business Excellence Awards, including the accolade for ‘marketing campaign of the year.’
The attraction picked up the gong for the activity it carried out last year in conjunction with Greggs. This saw the bakery giant donate 5p from every Tiger Bloomer Loaf it sold to 20th Century Tiger, a charity set up to provide in situ projects to preserve tigers in the wild. In conjunction with this the zoo took the headline prize of ‘visitor attraction of the year’, along with the ‘welcome all award’ in recognition of its work to make the attraction as accessible as possible to those with disabilities. Jude Rothwell, communications manager at Blackpool Zoo, commented: "We are absolutely delighted to have won these awards. Our staff work so hard and they truly deserve this recognition.”
