Welcome to the weekly Wrap from How-Do - media news for the North West.
The Wrap's guest editor this week is Tony Hartley-Denton.
So, it’s Friday 13th and spooky things have been going on. Not far from our office the “Facebook fugitive” is reported to have been hiding out - and with social media spreading like wild fire, it’s interesting that the nationals are using the Facebook angle to headline the story. Good or bad PR for Facebook? The debate is on.
On a lighter note, Capture Manchester was launched this week – to find the visual essence of Manchester – it’s a great idea and I’ll be keeping my eye out as the competition progresses – as long as the essence isn’t the B of the Bang of course as news hit this week that, several millions of pounds later, it will definitely be taken down.
While on the subject of the essence of Manchester, it wouldn’t be right if I didn’t mention the cameo appearance of Shaun Ryder in this week’s Shameless – brilliant.
In other news, Property Week, the industry bible for the commercial property sector, is launching its regional TV starting with the North West – “What?” I hear you say, “in the current commercial property climate”. The fact is, bad climate or not, PW would have had this in the pipeline for a while – and we’re seeing more and more of it – as the need for immediate news and moving images gets greater.
I hear that national PW TV is going very well - Sir Alan being interviewed by the editor Giles Barrie at the launch of the Amspropo building on Great Portland Street to 150 agents is interesting viewing – it won’t be long before the agents can stay in their offices and view the launch from their own desks in real time.
We’re also really pleased that the redundant robot AHD168 has now had over 32,000 hits on YouTube and elsewhere we are currently busy completing our award entries for the year's two big awards – the How-Do's and the Big Chips.
Finally, I'd like to wish Tony Foggett, now CEO of Code a very happy holiday, a long time coming eh Tony, and congratulations to Andrew Davenport in his new role as MD.
