Welcome to the weekly wrap from How-Do - the website for North West media and creative industries. If you have problems viewing this message you can read it on the website. The wrap’s guest editor this week is Diane Earles, the regional director of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) in the North West. There have been definite themes over the past week…
…Rain...Salford
Announcements that Salford Film Festival is back in business and Presteigne Broadcast Hire moving to Salford Quays. The latter, I am sure, is the start of many new faces in the quays on the back of mediacity:uk. I am very pleased to read about these developments having lived in Salford for three years.
…Rain....Animation Paul Munn, who is heading up Presteigne, was previously with Walt Disney, which always conjures up wonderful childhood memories. But then I read that unfortunately Hot Animation , creators of Bob the Builder and Pingu, sadly too recent to conjure up memories for me, may be closing their Altrincham site.
…More Animation I then saw that Flix Facilities has won new BBC and Cosgrove Hall projects – well done – with other projects for Panorama and the classic animation Postman Pat. As an aside I heard that ex 007 Pierce Brosnan is taking over the engine from Ringo Starr to be the new voice of Thomas the Tank Engine. I’m not sure Thomas will have enough gadgets to keep his interest though!
…Rain....even More Animation Cosgrove are in the news again with a new website , absolutely ideal for me as it is ‘designed to appeal to a range of audiences and users - Older visitors can ‘relive’ their childhood through video clips of classic shows and film stills while younger visitors can watch pilot episodes of the latest shows together with all promotional and merchandising material.’
I now feel the need to get my old video out and play some of these classic films over the weekend!
…And more rain.
