How-Do Weekly Wrap - 4 April 2008 - Iain Fowler | Print |  Email to a friend
Friday, 04 April 2008

Welcome to the weekly Wrap from How-Do - media news for the North West.

The Wrap's guest editor this week is Iain Fowler

I’m chuffed to be invited to be the guest editor but as we know ‘every silver lining has a cloud’ and I’m frantically typing before heading off to Aintree - it’s not often they let me out.

It would be rude of me not to congratulate How-Do on its first birthday .  It’s a great achievement and I’m sure that there’s a lot more to come. Who knows, in 12 months time you might have Elton John, Bono or Gordon Brown writing your anniversary wrap instead of yours truly (Ed – doubt it).

Now being a 31 year old station director of 107.6 Juice FM (music Radio for a FUN, YOUNG Liverpool…shameless plug), means that I don’t take life too seriously. It’s all about making our listeners happy, so I chuckled when I read the story about the Accrington Observer and its ‘High Street Honeyz’ competition. I can’t believe that anyone would take exception to a feature like this: indeed aren’t modelling competitions a part of our national heritage? Surely people have better things to do than whinge about independent women choosing to enter a beauty competition. I wonder whether complaints relating to council tax rises, unemployment or the threat of global terror may be more worthwhile.

Worthwhile as in BJL winning the Lambrini advertising account . I’ll sure you’ll do a great job and take the brand to the next level.  Maybe there’s an opportunity to link up with the Hyndburn High Street Honeyz as ‘Lambrini Girls’?

Finally I had to laugh with the ‘Sandtex’ April Fool release from Connectpoint confirming they had organised for the paint brand to give the white cliffs of Dover a once over.  The big question is would they use smooth or textured masonry paint? (I’d recommend textured because it can hide a few cracks)  This release is as good as another story I heard this week about the Google internet site that shows you the future..

Iain Fowler is station director of 107.6 Juice FM Liverpool
