Welcome to the weekly Wrap from How-Do - media news for the North West.
The Wrap's guest editor this week is Jonny Wilde
Well, it’s the week of the How-Do Awards and everyone’s gone and got rather excited, with just under 200 high standard entries there was a lot to consider - I hope those attending had a great time!
Other awards news of interest included Communique’s ‘Stop the Charge’ campaign shortlisting in the Sabres, something they are rightly proud of... but all that congestion failed to hold them back, again.
Another who should feel good is Candis Magazine celebrating passing the £5m mark for charitable donations and Chapman Entertainment completing work on the third series of the increasingly popular Fifi and the Flowertots.
It’s also been discussed this week that there are plans for the government to monitor all internet use. The new systems would track all e-mails, phone calls and internet use, including visits to social network sites. No-one really knows what this will do to user habits or trends so watch this space. It’s unlikely you’ll be the only one… Could it affect the digital industry? Social media most definitely - it’ll be interesting to see if the channel becomes less attractive to advertisers as paranoia sets in and trends change!
It seems it takes a world of opposites and extremes to create a balance. And we all keep striving to keep the balance on a constantly shifting playing field (and in Lancaster theirs shook as well as shifted). It’s one heck of a game we’re all in.
