How-Do weekly wrap - Friday 17 August 2007 - Carolyn Hughes | Print |  Email to a friend
Friday, 17 August 2007

Welcome to the weekly Wrap from How-Do - media news for the North West.

The Wrap’s guest editor this week is Carolyn Hughes

Having read this week that the North West is the worst region for alcohol abuse in the UK – it made me check my diary – and sure enough most of my clients have suggested meetings in bars and restaurants. So I have told myself that we must just work harder in the North West and have more meetings.

Lancashire Council believes MySpace is the way for the council to communicate directly with the people, primarily younger people…the site presently has 330 ‘friends’ signed up….  a council with 330 friends, well that has to be a first.

Rob McLoughlin recalled his time with Tony Wilson and some of them really did strike a chord.  As I look out of my apartment on Liverpool’s waterfront at the regeneration of just about every old building I can see – the words – ‘And like New York, we should convert all these old mills and factories and start living in lofts’.  -  seemed almost visionary!  RIP Tony you were way ahead of the developers.

ITN/Channel 4 news increasing investment in Manchester – in a region which is known for being opinionated - this is great news for News…

This coupled with the fact that Tony Wood at Lime Pictures has been tasked with building Lime into the UK’s largest and most prestigious drama production company is a positive step in the right direction.

Everton has rejected the rumour that it is the latest Premiership club to signal its intent to launch a dedicated club TV channel.  With Everton fans currently in a frenzy of excitement having two wins under their belt (yes I am a Red) just think of the re-runs the two wins would have had on the channel.
