Welcome to the weekly Wrap from How-Do - media news for the North West.

I shall be following Factory Communications with interest, particularly if they have indeed landed the job as PR agency tasked with developing the campaign promoting Liverpool as European Capital of Culture in 2008. I wish them all the best especially as it is understood the BBC have been nose poking into the set up plans, dispatching a Panorama team to the region to turn over some stones.
Tucking into my Cornflakes and toast at breakfast this week proved prophetic as both Kellogg’s and Warburton’s were recipients of awards in the food and drink categories of the How-Do Top 100 Brands.
This event underlined the massive contribution the region makes to the national economy. Awards and rankings of this type are frequent on a national and international basis but it was welcoming to see the focus on the North West, structured around 11 key business sectors with some additional attention given to innovation. Not only were the recipients well deserving but the accompanying information and analysis behind the awards confirmed their authenticity – all well executed by Ci Research of Cheshire .
To Wrap up, special mention must go to TBWA\Manchester – you have to clap them in for their handling of the Fake Bake tan story. Only a week after landing the account the agency was presented with a tabloid expose of ex bra model Sophie Anderton, now brand ambassador for the bottled tan firm. The NOTW reported that the 30 year old model had been snorting cocaine and offered to have sex with their undercover reporter for £10,000, apparently needing the money to buy a new house she was quoted as saying “I'm great at sex. I'll look great on your f***ing arm. I'm a supermodel.” TBWA are developing their creative for 2008 while Miss Anderton is developing her career elsewhere.
