How-Do weekly Wrap - Friday 27 June 2008 - Alice Morrison | Print |  Email to a friend
Friday, 27 June 2008

Welcome to the weekly Wrap from How-Do - media news for the North West.

The Wrap's guest editor this week is Alice Morrison.

Happy Birthday to the How-Do weekly Wrap. One year old this week and now established as an august organ in its own right. Seriously though folks, in just a year How-Do has become indispensable reading so congratulations to them.

Now for a quick look at the week that was.

Starting off with one of the top stories…it was good to see that such a fine selection of the Northwest’s agencies have been chosen by the NWDA to help ramp up their online marketing and ways of targeting consumers. It’ll be interesting what comes out of that collective creative force.

More fun was the news that Preston is to be hit by a posse of Rock Riders. Rock FM have decided to shrink their carbon footprint and so have now got a fleet of mopeds –suitably branded and mounted to whiz the street team around the city. This is an idea that could catch on – I look forward to the day when our favourite BBC Political Correspondent turns up to Westminster on a Marrmobile – Kate Garraway athwart a scooter – possibilities are endless.

And, of course, sad news that Sue Woodward has left ITV Granada. Sue did a huge amount for ITV and for the industry here and I have no doubt will continue to contribute a lot to the region. In fact, rumour has it….but no I’ll leave that to the How-Do team.

Trying to select a final story to comment on from the week, it struck me that the story is that there are lots of great contracts being won by our Northwest companies – encouraging news at a time when tales of economic gloom dominate the headlines. That’s it – am off to sell my house in order to buy a tank of diesel. Have a good weekend.
