Welcome to the weekly Wrap from How-Do - media news for the North West. The Wrap's guest editor this week is Nicky Unsworth.
So here we are at the end of summer...what summer?
The kids are going back to school, Team GB is back home and Hilary and Bill are back on the guest speaker circuit.
But don’t be too glum, findings released this week from the British household panel survey, surprised folk waking up in Manchester who suddenly found themselves in the ‘second happiest place in the UK in terms of a place to live’ – nudged only out of pole position by sparsely populated Powys.
And notwithstanding the weather, there were a host of other reasons to be cheerful on the North West media front this week. It was sequins and glamour reigning at the weekend for the greatest celebration of gay culture at Gay Pride. It never disappoints and this year saw a bigger crowd than ever support this fabulous display of diversity.
Carl Hopkins was spreading the love, a bit of muck and not insignificant amounts of brass in Easington in a heart warming episode of Secret Millionaire. Some great examples here of how far passion and integrity can stretch a tight budget.
And fear not, if you still have holiday allowance but don’t want to leave the North West, Salford has a tourism drive launching through Fido ….and it seems that “Sausage Making” is set to be a real draw.
Finally, to prove ‘there’s no place like home’ The Lowry is launching a search for Dorothy to star in its Christmas musical ‘The Wizard of Oz’. Has Tony Murray confirmed his annual home visit yet?
Here’s to a sunny September.
