How-Do weekly wrap - Friday 3 Aug - Joanna Ashton/ITV Local Granada | Print |  Email to a friend
Friday, 03 August 2007

Welcome to the weekly Wrap from How-Do - the website for North West media and creative industries. If you have problems viewing this message you can read it on the website.

The Wrap’s guest editor this week is Joanna Ashton channel manager for ITV Local Granada

Great music, enterprise and a passion for sport define the North West.

So no surprise Liverpool design agency Smiling Wolf has won the pitch to create Roxy Music’s new web site and online campaign.

Still in Merseyside Carolyn Roberson of law firm Hill Dickinson has become one of only 234 women worldwide to be inducted as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Ian Ayre has eschewed the exotic delights of Kuala Lumpa to return to his home turf as commercial director for Liverpool FC .  I’ll be interested to see how he develops the powerful LFC brand in Asia and who strikes it lucky with the ‘new’ Anfield sponsorship.

Savvy Macclesfield based search engine optimisation company, Just Search , has recognised the value of a tv/new media mix as the first internet marketing company to sponsor a professional football club - Stockport County - in the UK.

Web pioneers Idaho celebrate 10 years having turned a 4k capital investment into an impressive projected £1m turnover whilst Kin2Kin has signed up its 1,000th member since last October.

With the digital media industry moving at speed, it’s disappointing to read Manchester Universities are apparently not keeping pace with their BA courses.

Yet despite the online hype it seems there’s still an appetite for print media. Time Out may be about to launch a Manchester title and Shortlist, a new free weekly targeted at 18 – 35 year old men is entering the fray.  Can there still be a chink in this marketplace?

Online, offline, below the line, above the line sometimes it all gets confusing, so it’s reassuring to know some values haven’t changed….”News will remain at our core – it’s in our DNA” says radio indie All Out Productions and with 9 Sony Awards in the bag I think they’ve got it right.
