Welcome to the weekly Wrap from How-Do - media news for the North West. The Wrap’s guest editor this week is Lisa Miles On these dark dismal mornings when you really know that winter has arrived and all you want to do is shut your eyes tight and pretend there’s no such thing as work, there are few things more annoying than being told to “Wake Up” . . . Nevertheless, I do agree with the new Kellogg’s campaign devised by Blue Chip that breakfast is essential and am surprised by how many people skip it. Personally I can’t get out the door without at least one mouthful of muesli. Although being ordered by the ever-chirpy Philippa Forrester to wake up and eat up could be enough to send me running out the door on an empty stomach. I’ve been following the work of Merseyside ACME and I hope its ambitions for a Creative Industries Quarter come off. The knowledge economy and creative industries are tipped by city bosses like Liverpool Vision’s Jim Gill as the next major growth area. In fact, Insider’s hosting a breakfast event in Liverpool next Thursday at which I will be chairing a discussion on this very subject. The world’s obsessed with sport. If I’m forced to express a preference for a team it’s Everton, although I’m not going to pretend to be bowled over by news the club is launching a mobile service . But it must have warmed many a heart that Tony Tighe has secured a lottery grant for the Everton Collection Charitable Trust. Mere has also been tasked with reinvigorating consumer perceptions of retail giant JJB , which could include a complete rebrand for the troubled sportswear retailer. Just as I’m cheering up I get reminded by Mark Manley just how treacherous being a journalist can be. Our annual libel training casts fear into the hearts of most of my team and we can’t write a word for the next 24 hours. The advent of online media requires extra vigilance – it’s so easy to absent-mindedly hit “Send” and then regret the consequences. Best keep Manley on speed dial.
